To say that mobile is the next big thing is an understatement. Mobile Web usage is predicted to overtake the desktop in 2014. Mobile devices already account for 50% of all Internet connections and half of all local searches. App downloads are skyrocketing. Building a mobile version of your website is no longer optional -- and it's increasingly being done first. Developing for Mobile picks up where the winter-term course, Designing for Mobile, left off, briefly reviewing core principles and techniques essential to designing and building websites and Web applications for mobile devices. The course continues with a deep, hands-on treatment of mobile Web-coding practices, including HTML and CSS, as well as incorporating CSS3 and HTML5 capabilities, such as geolocation, local storage, and media queries, into mobile websites and Web apps.
